Ondara is located on the Costa Blanca, on the eastern coast of Spain. It's a small town in the Valencian region and the province of Alicante. Situated in the foothills of the Sierra de Segaria, it's around 4km from the coast.

Access to Ondara is via the N332 or the smaller road from Denia.

Ondara is a town full of history. The town dates back to the Palaeolithic times. It was once occupied by the Romans and later the Moors, however it's the kind of town that most people simply pass through.

Ondara is not the most attractive of towns and there are just a fe monuments to see. At the time of Idealspain visiting, many of the buildings were being renovated and were covered in scafolding.

What to see in Ondara

The bullring

This is one of the jewels of Ondara. It was built in the late 19th century in Arabic style. It was almost totally destroyed during the Spanish Civil War and rebuilt in 1957. Pictured right is the bullring (Placa de Bous) in Ondara. It's a unique building with a strange design. The ornate architecture is however spoilt by the unassuming wall that surrounds the building. Next door is the local police station.
