What to see in Sax
Modern-day Sax is a typical town with all the modern facilities you could require. The Centro Historico is the place to see some of the best monuments in the area. Many of the steep, narrow streets have retained their Moorish styles.
The Parish Church of our Lady of the Assumption

This old streets in Sax dates from the q6th century and is the location of the old city walls.

How to get to Sax
Sax is located at the side of the A31 that runs south to Murcia. It can also be accessed by the CV80 from Alcoy. As you head north on the A31, Sax is on your left and accessed by a slip road. As you enter Sax, at the first roundabout, the new town is to your left and the historic centre is to your right. There are a couple of small car parks but ample on-street parking.
Fiestas in Sax
At the beginning of February, Sax celebrates the Moors and Christians with almost a week of celebrations. These include a march and battle through the narrow streets of the historic centre.

Nearby to Sax
You could visit Villena, a nearby town with an equally stunning castle, slightly north of Sax on the A31.
Novelda and Elda are a couple of kilometres south of Sax and Alcoy is to the east.
The nearest major city is Alicante, then Murcia. |
