Shopping in Ribadeo
There are several large supermarkets on the outskirts of Ribadeo including Mercadona and Lidles. The town has a wide selection of small, local shops. It's not a touristy location so gift shops are few and far between which is quite nice. The streets of Ribadeo form a geometric pattern with all streets leading to the port area. The Paseo Maritimo Alfonso Rodriguez runs along the waterside, the whole length of the town and makes for a pleasant walk.
The port and marina area
Being based upon an estuary, there's no wonder that Ribadero is a marine town. It has a fully functioning fishing port as well as a small sports marina. |

La Plage As Catedrais (Cathedral Beach)
Around 7km from Ribadeo along the N634 is one of the finest and most visited beaches in the area. La Plage As Catedrais (Cathedral Beach) is a great tourist attraction. Coaches arrive daily for short visits and people come to enjoy the beach for the day. Read a full report and see photographs here.
The Cathedral Beach is so named due to the amazing rock structures that resemble Gothic Cathedrals. They rise to around 30 metres in height and form huge arches, deep caves and passages. It's best viewed when the tide is out and the full extent of the rocks are shown. This also reveals a large sandy beach with little rock pools to keep the children amused for hours.
