Moraira is located on the Costa Blanca, on the eastern coast of Spain. Just off the AP7 highway, Moraira is just a short drive from Javea and Denia to the north and Calpe, Altea and Benidorm to the south. Moraira is in the province of Alicante and the region of Valencia.

Moraira is the beach resort belonging to the inland town of Teulada, 6km away.

Moraira

The first thing you will notice when you arrive in Moraira is how clean it is. The council, over recent years have tidied the place up a great deal. The seafront is no longer cluttered with parked cars and additional (paid) parking has been made available off the main road.

Moraira

The Castle of Moraira stands proudly on the seafront, looking towards Calpe and the Rock of Ifach. The beach to the right is small but has wonderful sand. On windy days the beach is popular with kite surfers.

The seafront has a good selection of bars and restaurants. There are more on the side streets.

What to see in Moraira

The modern sculpture (right) is probably your fist view of Moraira. It sits proudly on the main roundabout on the road from Gata de Gorgos and Teulada.

Just after this roundabout you will find the tourist office (9am-5pm).

The marina and port in Moraira

Moraira still has a working fishing fleet and fresh fish is sold daily at the Lonja on the port. There's also a busy marina with moorings for small boats.

The views

Shopping in Moraira

Market day in Moraira is Friday and there's a smaller street market on Wednesdays in nearby Teulada.

Fiestas in Teulada and Moraira

The largest fiesta in Teulada is held around the 15th April, in honour of the patron saint, St.Vicente Ferrer. Nearby, La Font Santa is a small chapel where a fiesta is held at the beginning of July. At the end of August la Fiesta del Moscatel is held to celebrate the grape harvest. During the 3rd week of June, Moraira celebrates the Moors and Christians with parades, parties and re-enactments of the famous battles. A truly spectacular and noisy celebration.

What to do in the Teulada and Moraira area

If you want to get away from the beaches of Moraira, you will find lots of activities such as the Terra Mitica theme park near Benidorm, Terra Natura and Aqualandia are both parks worth visiting.
