Son Siurana Hotel - A review by Idealspain

With
a capacity for just 24 people, this hotel takes individual attention to
the limits.
The hotel is based around a large finca, originally built in 1784 but totally
rebuilt several years ago. The hotel is located on the main road from Palma
and Inca to Alcudia and
is a fine example of rural tourism in Mallorca.
Puerto de Pollensa is just 8km away.

The
hotel is set in 100 hectares of land, lined with almond, fig and orange
trees. Sheep roam free on the estate. Despite the antiquity of the main
building, don't be fooled; this hotel offers all the modern conveniences
that a hotel should offer, and more.
The
swimming pool is set at the front of the main house and has extensive
areas for sunbathing. The views over the mountains and to the sea are
breathtaking. There are pastures all around with small lakes and rows
of almond and orange trees from which you are encouraged to pick fruit.
At the back of the house is a BBQ area, terraces and a vegetable garden,
from which you can take your fresh produce.

The
accommodation consists of newly built cottages, in true local style, spread
around the main house. Each has a terrace and garden area. The cottages
are well furnished and equipped with everything you need. They have heating,
air conditioning, satellite TV, kitchen with microwave and a music system.
They really are very comfortable. The bathrooms are well equipped and
have baths and showers.
Breakfast
is taken in the main house and on the terrace in the summer. Within the
main house is a large lounge, furnished with period furniture and having
a large information centre with piles of local information. The owners
are happy to advise you on local information, make excursion bookings
and restaurant reservations for you. The hotel reception is also located
here.

Our
opinion
This new form of tourism in Mallorca, known as Agro tourism is very different
to the apartments and hotels on the sea front. Life here is so peaceful
you can soon forget that the busy beach is just down the road. We visited
Son Siurana in January 2003 and found that the hotel was everything we
expected it to be, and more. This is a family business and the family
are keen to ensure that guests feel at home. They have thought about everything
and have created something really special. The cottages are more than
comfortable and are perfectly located. The facilities here are great and
the environment is idyllic. If you want the bars and discos of the coast
then this is not for you; if you want a peaceful yet luxurious place to
base yourself whilst you explore Mallorca, then look no further. From
here you can drive to the coast, take long walks or cycle across the countryside.
Highly recommended.
