Located 90km north
of
Barcelona,
within
Catalonia,
is this wonderful
gleaming white
town with its 12th
century walls,
fascinating old
quarter and good
beaches.
It could well be
described as the
perfect base for a
Costa Brava
holiday.
During the 18th
and 19th
centuries, Tossa
was a thriving
port, dealing
mainly in cork.
This declined and
tourism took over.
Tossa became a
beautiful place to
stay, a place that
had somehow
managed to retain
its charm and
character.
There are two
beaches here, Mar
Grand and La Bauma,
both offering
wonderful
surroundings and
clear water. In
the summer,
without an advance
reservation, it is
almost impossible
to stay here.
Tourists flock
from all over the
world to sample
the beauty and
unspoilt
character.
There are plenty
of quality hotels
and restaurants to
sample here and
the nightlife is
good yet not over
