LaLinea
(or La
Linea
de la
Concepcion)
as its
proper
name
is
known,
is
situated
at the
tip of
southern
Spain
and is
the
linking
point
between
Spain
and
the
British
territory
of
Gibraltar.
It is
part
of the
province
of
Cadiz.
It is
in
LaLinea
that
you
will
pass
through
customs
to
enter
Gibraltar.
LaLinea
has a
long
seafront,
comprising
of two
beaches,
Playa
de
Santa
Barbara
and
Playa
de
Levante.
There
is
also a
smaller
beach
as you
approach
Gibraltar
on the
port
side
of
LaLinea.
It is
one of
the
last
places
along
the
Mediterranean
coast.
La
Linea
is a
relatively
modern
town
which
has
its
origins
in the
line
of
fortifications
built
by
Philip
V
after
the
loss
of
Gibraltar. |

Linea
has a
compact
shopping
area,
based
around
Calle
Real
and
Plaza
Cruz
Herrara.
It is
in
this
Plaza
that
you
can
find
the
Museo
del
Istmo,
located
in the
old
military
headquarters.
There
is a
large
outdoor
market
on
Wednesdays.
This
can be
found
along
Avda.
Principe.
La
Linea
has a
bullring
that
attracts
large
crowds,
a
theatre
by the
name
of
Teatro
Municipal
la
Velada,
a
museum
of
bullfighting,
several
large
churches
and a
park
by the
name
of
Princess
Sofia.
A
watch
tower
dating
from
1630
exists
on the
Playa
de
Levante.
There
are
several
tourist
offices
here,
one of
which
can be
found
on
Avda.
Principe,
near
the
customs.
LaLinea
has
always
been
an
important
military
point
and
has
the
remains
of an
extensive
bunker
system
from
the
World
Wars,
all of
which
can
still
be
seen. |

de la
Constitucion,
a wide
open
space
that
often
incorporates
market
stalls.
The
main
Post
Office
is
also
located
here.
The
Parque
Princesa
Sofia
is a
large
open
space
located
near
the
Gibraltar
border.
It is
here
that
you
will
be
able
to see
the
bunkers.
Here
is
also
the
best
place
to
park
if you
visit
Gibraltar.

spaces,
remember
to
purchase
a
ticket
from
the
