Puerto de la Cruz is located on
the north-western coast of Tenerife and is one of the largest
resorts on this side of the island. The resort is well established
and offers excellent family holidays. The range of hotels is
extensive from 2-5 stars. Many of the hotels are located just a
few metres from the beach. |
| The main beach at Puerto de la
Cruz is of black sand. There are toilet facilities, a couple of
small bars/restaurants and easy access from the main road. The
beach gardens are a lovely walk with tropical plants and stoned
walls. The beach is flanked by rocky outcrops which shade it from
the elements somewhat. |
 |
 |
There are a couple of smaller
beaches, all of black sand. The beach to the left, at Punta Brava
is smaller, rockier and the sea tends to be a little rougher. To
the right of the main beach, after the small fishing harbour is
another beach. This is the second largest in the resort and is
much rockier. |
There are a few Watersports
facilities in the resort including several scuba diving schools.
Facilities and attractions in Puerto de la Cruz include, the small
castle of San Felipe, a lido type aquapark, the Botanical Gardens
and the world famous park; ‘Loro Parque’. The town has small,
narrow streets lined with shops selling everything from typical
tourist gifts to local crafts and designer wear. Electrical goods
are especially cheap here due to the tax advantages of the island. |
 |
 |
From Puerto de la Cruz it is
easy access to the mountain road that crosses the Pico de Teide,
the volcano and national park. The main TF5 motorway also passes
through Puerto de la Cruz, giving easy access to both ends of the
island. |
