With the flight disruptions in 2010 due to the volcano ash cloud, cruises have received a renewed interest, especially to Spain and the Mediterannean. There are some real bargains to be had and they are less likely to be cancelled.

Cruises around Spain are highly popular and are available most of the year. They represent excellent value for money and are a great way of sampling different cities and places, all in one holiday.

When you arrive in a new port, the cruise ship will organise tours of the city or you can simply do your own thing. You can use your time ashore to explore the city or simply lay on the beach.

When arriving in Gibraltar which is a popular port off the coast of southern Spain, all the shops give a special discount to cruise passengers. Each day, a list of the cruises in port is issued and displayed in shop windows. Production of your cruise pass will get you the discount (usually 10%).
